Adventure is out there!

Todays bus trip from Venice to Rome was not enjoyable. For some unknown reason, I was sick the whole way. I can only assume it was the pizza i had the night before that caused the unpleasant ness and the need for lots of plastic bags, as i hadn’t eaten anything since then. Tip for you all, do not drink gatorade to rehydrate. You end up spewing liters of red liquid, therefore drawing a lot of unwanted attention.

Today I had to check out at 10. Since I could only store my bag at the hostel till 3pm, I didn’t plan anything to do today except post stuff home and buy a Venetian mask. Posting 8kg of stuff home was a success even if the post office was chaos. Buying a mask was not so successful. There were too many options and I ran out of time finding one that I could bring home safely.

So off I went to collect my bag to head to the camp ground. The camping hostel website has said there would be a shuttle bus running every hour from 3.30 to 10.30pm. So I headed over to where the pick up point was. There I met another Canadian waiting for the bus who showed me the shuttle bus schedule taped to a wall. It said the first pick up would be at 7pm. So we waited hoping that the website was accurate but by the time 4pm came round, I decided to call the hostel to figure out what was going on. They then said that the shuttle would not start till 6.30 and didn’t offer any explanation as to why the website said something completely different. Ultimately we had to wait till 6.30 and explained to 8 other people who arrived what was going on.

Finally the bus arrived and we got to the camping ground. Not much to say about the place except that as expected it was not like what the website said. Thankfully I was only staying one night before heading off at 8am. If this wasn’t the pickup point then I would never stayed here. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

So turns out I’m sharing a 4 bed dorm with a teenage boy named Ariel and his grandparents. It is super awkward. Just saying. They arrived at 9.30 pm just when I thought I’d be lucky enough to have a room to myself. On the upside they are from Indiana and Michigan, two places I have been to and loved so hopefully they will be cool. But right now their stuff is everywhere!
